PiƱa
La piƱa (Ananas comosus) pertenece a la familia de las bromeliĆ”ceas originaria de AmĆ©rica del Sur. Es una planta tropical herbĆ”cea perenne de tallo corto y grueso. La inflorescencia contiene entre cien y doscientas flores dispuestas en forma de espiral. La floraciĆ³n dura entre treinta y sesenta dĆas aproximadamente; El fruto maduro se obtiene ciento treinta y cinco dĆas despuĆ©s de la apariciĆ³n de la flor.
Clima: La piƱa necesita una temperatura media de 25-32 ĀŗC, un rĆ©gimen de precipitaciones regular (entre 1000-1500 mm) y una elevada humedad ambiental. Aunque la piƱa tolera periodos relativamente largos de sequĆa, la falta de agua al momento de la siembra y al inicio de la floraciĆ³n y fructificaciĆ³n, retarda el crecimiento y reduce el tamaƱo de la fruta.
Soil: It adapts easily to all types of soils, although it prefers loamy, deep and well drained soils. It is a very organic matter demanding plant.
